Update from Swamiji on 22nd August:
On 21st I again visited the Ashrama. The whole Ward where RKMath Haripad is under 4 feet water. In the Haripad Ashrama the water has receded from the rooms but outside it is 3 feet water still. So we have to reach the Ashrama with difficulty and only by boat.

ALSO, SINCE ALL THE WATER MOTOR AND PUMPS ARE UNDER WATER, ELECTRICITY BOARD HAS CUT OFF THE POWER AS THERE CAN BE SHORT CIRCUIT. SO THERE IS NO WATER FOR DRINKING AND OTHER PURPOSES.

IT WILL TAKE SOME TIME. SEE THE LINK FOR PHOTOS. IN THE MEANTIME WE ARE GOING BY BOAT TO CLEAN THE ASHRAMA SO THAT THE MATERIALS LIKE CLOTHES, VESSELS AND PROVISIONS WE WISH TO DISTRIBUTE TO PEOPLE CAN BE STORED IN THE ASHRAMA.

YESTERDAY WE HAD GIVEN DRINKING CANS TO THE RELIEF CAMP AND DRINKING WATER IS THE BIG DIFFICULTY. WE HAVE ALSO GIVEN DISPOSABLE PLATES, TUMBLERS, SANITATION ITEMS LIKE MOPS, CLEANING AGENTS AND SOAPS ETC.

SINCE ONAM IS COMING THEY WANTED TO CELEBRATE ONAM IN THE CAMP ITSELF IN A SIMPLE WAY AND THEY WANTED US TO PROVIDE THE SWEET–PAYASM AND WE HAVE ALREADY PROVIDED THE SAME FOR ABOUT 550 PERSONS.

By the Grace of Holy Trio we 3 monks of Haripad are well and no difficulty for us by Mothers benevolent glance on us. But the ashrama buildings are under flood waters — 1 feet and more inside rooms and 5 feet outside the building

The whole colony of 500 families or so are under 5 feet flood water and so all are in Govt Relief shelter. Families of elite nature have gone to the relatives houses and middle and poor families are in shelter. Among the poor some have gone to their relatives but returned to the Govt shelter as that is the way they will get further compensation.

So far, based on need and what they wanted we have given firewood 3000/-, vegetables 3000/-, drinking water 400 litres rs 4400/-, medicines 500/- mats 1500/- etc. We are not able to take snap of all things. Few snaps I have attached. I visited the camp and daily some brother monks go and enquire and get the people what they want.

Since all are in flood there is no volunteer. Even otherwise there are few volunteers. But we are doing what we can do.

People are comfortably lodged in shelters and are getting food. At present we can’t give anything as there is no place to store in the camp.

We have told the Councillors to give the list of the families in our ward and the requirements. With that we are arranging the items and as the water recedes and they return to house–needy items like Provisions, clothes, sanitary items etc would be handed over to them.

Then we have assured them that 3 to 4 days after they return to houses ( they have to clean the house so it will take time _ we will provide in the ashrama by providing provisions and the villagers should come and cook and take food in the noon and night.

After that again we have planned to see what rehabilitation we can give like if they need any common hall or shelter in first floor as it is a low lying area and every now and then a minor crisis of this nature will occur. WE may have to adopt some 100 or 200 families. I have informed the Councillor that we will help all the affected families in the ward.

Update on 18th August 2018 :
ALL THE MONKS HAVE SHIFTED FROM HARIPAD RK MATH CENTRE TO THE NEARBY CENTRE AS WATER ROSE TO ONE FEET INSIDE THE ROOMS AND OUTSIDE IT WAS 3 FEET. YOU CAN SEE SRI THAKUR AND OUR KITCHEN AND OTHER ITEMS IN THE TERRACE IN THE PHOTOS AND MONKS LEAVING THE ASHRAMA BY BOAT.

AFTER WATER SUBSIDES WE HAVE TO START THE RELIEF AS THERE IS NOBODY THERE IN THE LOCALITY WE WERE THE 3RD LAST TO COME IT IS NOW UNDER 5 FEET WATER AND IT MAY RISE,

IF YOU ARE INTERESTED YOU CAN CONTRIBUTE SO THAT WE CAN DO THE RELIEF TO THE PEOPLE SURROUNDING THE ASHRAMA. BUT MENTION THAT THE CONTRIBUTION IS FOR RELIEF.
